This is one question , everyone asks before getting a new Computer. But to find the Correct Answer is Very Difficult. I'm Gonna Compare the Two Major Operating Systems in Detail (Hopefully) . The Major Features and Differences-

1.Company-

Windows- The Windows OS is Designed and Marketed by Microsoft.

Macintosh- The Macintosh or MacOS is Designed and Owned by Apple Inc.

2.Compatibility-

Windows- While the Windows is Completely Compatible with ANY machine , (Strangely it can even run on a Mac) it is great and has an Edge over Mac in Terms of Compatibility.

Macintosh- The MacOS is a restricted OS and is able to run only on Machines Built by Apple Inc.This is one of the Most Significant Reasons that Windows has a greater Market Share than the MacOS.

3.Latest Versions-

Windows- The Latest version in Windows , is the Windows 7 and is one of the most used OS in the world. Apart from Basic Features , it also has some specialized Services.

Macintosh- The Latest version is Mac , is the MacOS X Snow leopard and is a very fast and much appreciated OS. All basic features + features like the Dock and yes, the Specialized Apple interface makes it Harder to resist.

4.Features in General-

Windows- One of the Most important feature of Windows is its Application Compatibility. It is Compatible with Virtually Every Application Ever Built.

The Macintosh here, is remarkably growing , but still Windows has a Wider Horizon on the topic of Application Compatibility.

Mac- The Mac offers its State of the art experience and is very easy to use, once you are used to it. Mac also offers a variety of Applications or Just Apps. Apple Recently Launched the Mac App Store , through which Free and Paid Apps can be downloaded for the Mac.

5. Interface

Windows- It has one of the most basic and easy to use interfaces and thus is Favored by many. Microsoft has invested Billions of $$  to achieve this level of Market Share. This could not have been possible if the Interface had not been Excellent.

Mac- The Mac Offers ,  Well, a Very Classy Interface , which is also easy to use , but is not comprehended very easily by all. But I can Assure you that If you go Mac, you won't go anywhere else.

6.Pricing-

Microsoft- This is also one Place where Microsoft Beats Apple, because you can run Windows on the Cheapest Computers too. But, this doesn't mean that its for the Cheap ones only, There are a range of Variants Like Windows 7 Ultimate, Professional etc Which can only be found on the Expensive Machines.

Mac- The Mac, Being a restricted OS is only Available for Machines made by Apple Inc. But even then, it is growing more Rapidly than ever, and i predict that it is going to level Microsoft Soon.

The Final Verdict-

Well, If you have to do basic Computing and Also Some High level programs, Windows is for you. But, if you want to do Basic Computing And High level programs in a LUXURIOUS way, then your good to go for a Mac.

Yet, the final decision Depends on YOU.
